Since its creation, 50 years ago, the Foundation has awarded prizes to more than 80 of the most transcending scientific investigations in recent Colombian history in numerous fields of science such as medicine, biology, agronomy, entomology, engineering, computer science, geology, economics, sociology, and history to name a few. It has also recognized and stimulated nearly a hundredth non-profit organizations working actively for the benefit and well-being of Colombian citizens and their communities.

Additionally, the Foundation manages the Colombia Biodiversa Scholarship Fund, aimed at promoting scientific investigations leading to the understanding, conservation and sustainable use of Colombian biodiversity. These scholarships are awarded for the development of undergraduate and graduate theses of students from biological sciences, social sciences or careers related to the Fund’s mission.
